Pregnancy/Childbirth Books
The Joy Of Natural
Childbirth by Helen Wessel
The Classic - Updated For Today The first edition of this
classic book was originally published in 1963. Dr. Sears, M.D.
says this book is "a must for spiritually minded couples", and I
concur. It presents a sound, scriptural philosophy of God's
goodness in in birth. The Joy Of Natural Childbirth presents a
well-researched scriptural philosophy of God's goodness in
birth. The author addresses this topic with warmth in an even
handed, non-alarmist fashion. Inside the book you will find it
covers physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of natural
childbirth, the husbands role in enhancing pregnancy, birth, and
parenting; common fears and misconceptions; the all-important
information on pre-natal nutrition, preparation for joyful,
natural birth; breast feeding advice; and family centered child
care.
The author's wisdom is gleaned from extensive research and
from experience as a mother of six and grandmother of an ever
increasing number. She is founder of a ministry which certifies
educators and trains couples in natural childbirth. This
indispensable guide would be a welcome resource for any
expectant mom. The first half of the book is written as a story,
about a young Christian couple expecting their first baby. There
is a lot of information to be picked up in the story, and even
more follows in the second half of the book.
Part 2 has such chapter titles as "Childbirth Through the
Centuries," "Childbirth in the Bible," "The Medical Model,"
"Family Sheltered Birthing," "Birthing God's Way," "The Joy of
Natural Childbirth," and "The Joy of Breastfeeding." One of
these chapters alone makes the book worth buying. All of them
put together makes it a must-read, even if you are not planning
an unmedicated birth.363pp.

Life Before Birth:
A Christian Family Book by Gary E. Parker
Children wonder where babies come from. They wonder what they
looked like when they were still growing inside their mother's
womb. And they wonder why some people say its okay to kill
pre-born babies, while others say it is wrong. Dr. Parker and
his wife, Mary, explain the Biblical view of life before birth.
Such topics as abortion and birth defects are covered in a
special way. For grades 4-6, a firmly Biblical and reverent
treatment, with scientific confirmation, of the God-ordained
process of human reproduction. Illustrated. This sensitively
written book with its 85 full-size pages of warm, colorful
illustrations allows mom and dad to deal with important
reproductive questions while communicating the awesome love of
the Creator to children (October 1996) Master Books; ISBN:
0890511640.

Childbirth the
Bradley Way by Susan McCutcheon, Erick Ingraham
(Illustrator), Robin Yoko Burningham (Illustrator)
Since the Bradley method was first introduced in 1970, a
growing number of expectant parents have opted for natural
childbirth, knowing that it's safer than medicated or surgical
delivery. But where can parents-to-be go for information on how
to have a successful Bradley birth? This book provides all the
answers, offering sound advice on how to prepare physically for
labor and what to expect during each of its stages. Photos &
